With less than two months to go before the fifth edition of the Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) kicks off, activity at our Himalayan HQ is building to fever pitch. Our new team—Raman Chawla, Natasha Patel, Eline Groeneweg-Bhatt, Matthew Singh Toor, Phurbu Bhuti and Prateek Rawat—are busy weaving together the festival’s multiple strands, and the result looks set to be very exciting indeed!
We thank our regular collaborators, Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary and the Government of Himachal Pradesh, for their continued support. A big thank you also to the Heinrich Böll Foundation for stepping up its involvement this year. As a not-for-profit initiative, DIFF couldn’t survive without its patrons.
This year’s festival sports a brand-new look—the work of our Creative Partner, Wieden+Kennedy. Special thanks to Hemant Sreekumar, Sarina Grewal and Shuchi Thakur, who patiently and lovingly worked on our image overhaul.
The coming months will see Best of DIFF screenings in Delhi, Chandigarh and Mumbai, giving you another chance to catch some of the highlights from the previous edition. Check the DIFF website and Facebook page for details.
Finally, what makes DIFF so special are its films and filmmakers. This year will be no exception, with films from around the globe, the best of recent Indian indies and some very distinctive directors presenting their films and participating in panels and masterclasses. So, mark November 3 to 6 in your diaries, book your transport and accommodation and get ready for DIFF 2016!
