Based on real-life events, this absorbing Iranian drama concerns 22-year-old Maryam, who is on death row having accidentally killed her husband Nasser—a man in his 60s. The only person who might be able to save Maryam is the dead man’s daughter, Mona. To do so, Mona must agree to appear on a live TV show and forgive her stepmother—as per the tenets of Iranian law. But, as the two women are forced to relive their pasts, mercy proves to be a complicated matter.
Meanwhile, notes of intrigue are injected into the story by the TV show’s droll host, a haughty producer, the heartbreaking case of a stillborn child, and the backstage behaviour of Nasser’s relatives.
