Zoya Diwan and her 8-year-old son are stuck in an abusive marriage with her activist husband, when a victim of Triple Talaq seeks out her help. While they are divided by class, they are united by their quest for freedom. The film is a tribute to the director’s mother, who led the movement that banned Triple Talaq in India.
Arastu Zakia
Arastu Zakia is a screenwriter and filmmaker. His short film, Riha, was selected for Bangalore International Short Film Festival (BISFF) and Tasveer Film Festival. He co-wrote a series commissioned by SK Global and is developing his autobiographical feature, Zakia, which was selected for the Rewrite Screenwriters Lab.
