A queer voyage along the labyrinth of dreams, archives and lived histories, Roohrangi navigates the real and the imaginary – traversing the filmmaker’s encounters in a gay-cruising forest reserve as he retraces the memory of his grandfather’s leucoderma-marked face, a face on whose white-and-brown patches, he saw a forest of miraculous trees.
Tusharr Madhavv
Tusharr Madhavv is an independent filmmaker working across documentary, experimental film, photography, performance and artistic research. His work largely explores lived histories and the politics of the gaze through personal, archival and experimental methods. His first feature documentary, A Ballad of Maladies (2016), won Best Film at the 10th IDSFFK, Best Debut Director at the 64th National Film Awards of India, and showed at the 11th Film South Asia. A former resident artist of Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, he holds an MA. in Mass Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia, and a Master of Film from the Netherlands Film Academy. He is pursuing a practice-based PhD in Arts at Leiden University.
