I, The Song

Poster - I, The Song

Nima, a teacher in Bhutan’s capital, is accused of being in a non-consensual pornographic video. To prove her innocence, she travels south searching for her lookalike in the video. There, she learns her doppelgänger Meto has left Bhutan. Unconvinced, Nima digs deeper through encounters with Meto’s friends and lovers. A village visit confuses her further: Meto’s brother insists she’s still in Bhutan, while her grandmother waits for Meto’s return from the city after recovering a sacred song “stolen” by city people.

As Nima unravels fragments of Meto’s life, her anger transforms into concern. She realizes only she can solve Meto’s disappearance and recover the stolen song. A film about exploitation, identity and culture, balanced precariously on the threshold of a reckless digital age.
