A filmmaker searches for a picture of the Self, formed through words, lives and memories of other people, other beings, redwood trees. Woven between India and California, the film examines the subjectivity of memory and loss, both of family and of soil. Embers has been made like a poem, line by line, a filmmaker’s archive of grief.
Sruti Visweswaran
Sruti Visweswaran is a Mumbai-based filmmaker and editor specialising in non-fiction and experimental film, handling all aspects of image and sound. Her editing work spans documentary films and video art shown at venues like the Guggenheim Museum and Kochi Biennale. She holds an MFA in Documentary Film from Stanford University.
