AMAR COLONY

Poster - AMAR COLONY

In the heart of Amar Colony, a dilapidated building, Meera seeks excitement amidst her pregnancy and a dull marriage, while her absent husband harbours his own secrets. Her young and idle neighbour, Mohit, is burdened by his abusive mother, Devki. Meera’s elderly aunt, Durga, longs for immortality, while Durga’s husband has a shop with a secret known only to his smarter grandchild. Amar Colony is life itself with its psychological conundrums, scandals, and politics. Its inhabitants embody multigenerational humanity, bound together in a limited space. They meet, talk, cheat, have secrets, share meals, love, abuse each other, believe in God, and refuse to die. With its washed colour palette and a romantically decadent setting, the film is a satire on mankind—a delicate and unique portrait of an exotic community that, in fact, represents all of us.
