Dibakar Banerjee

His first feature film Khosla Ka Ghosla was a sleeper hit redefining the genre of independent cinema in India and creating a new trend and many followers and imitators. It won the President’s award for Best Hindi Feature Film 2007. The film was also the official selection at MoMa, New York and the Stuttgart Film Festival.

His next film Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! released amidst unanimous critical applause and swept many awards in multiple categories. The film was the official selection at MoMa in 2009 and was screened at Osian in the same year. It was also part of the Indian Panorama at IFFI 2009. Dibakar won his second national award for Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! as the Best Popular Film in 2009.

Love Sex aur Dhokha, his third film, was the first commercially successful, breakthrough digital film in India. Considered as seminal work in Indian cinema, LSD released in March 2010. Since then it has been screened at the Munich Film Festival, London Indian Film Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival and at the Engendered’s Film Festival, I-view in the year of 2010.

Shanghai a contemporary political thriller is his fourth film released on June 8th 2012. It has released in India to some of the best reviews that any Indian film has received in the past decade with many hailing it as his best so far.
