Rajji and Santosh are toll booth operators in the North Indian town of Nagina. The lovers spend slow days in decrepit booths accompanied by a science TV channel while dreaming of a better future. Just as their job demands them to be on the move often, the infrastructure around them sees continual transformation. When a sudden tragedy spawns a beguiling resurrection, the lives of Rajji and Santosh are also irreversibly changed.
Yashasvi Juyal
Yashasvi Juyal is a filmmaker whose practice spans fiction and non-fiction cinema, working across writing, directing and producing. He is an alumnus of Doc Producing South and was selected for the Red Sea Lab – Directors’ Program with Spike Lee. He is a recipient of support from Visions Sud Est, the Red Sea Fund and Netflix Fund for Creative Equity – TakeTen. His short documentary, Rains Don’t Make Us Happy Anymore, premiered at Visions du Réel and won Best Short Documentary at Oslo Film Festival in 2025. His short fiction film, The Last Rhododendron, now streaming on MUBI, received the Gender Sensitivity Award at Dharamshala International Film Festival in 2021.
