IN THE LAND OF BROTHERS

Under the shadow of the US invasion, an extended Afghan refugee family begins a new life in Iran, unaware of the ultimate price expected of them as outliers in this (un)welcoming environment. They include: Mohammad, a young teenager and promising student; Leila, a woman isolated by geography; and Qasem who bears the weight of his family’s sacrifice.

Alireza Ghasemi

Alireza Ghasemi is an Iranian filmmaker who graduated in filmmaking from the Art University of Tehran and spent a year as an exchange student at Film Academy Baden-Württemberg in Germany. An alumnus of the Berlinale Talent Campus 2022, Alireza has directed several acclaimed short films, including Lunch Time, which was nominated for the Short Film Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017. He completed his first feature film, In the Land of Brothers, in 2024.

Raha Amirfazli

Raha Amirfazli is an Iranian filmmaker who graduated from the Art University of Tehran in film directing. She has made several short films that have received national and international screenings, including Solar Eclipse. Alongside her work in film, she was the editor-in-chief of the website 24 Frames. Raha is currently pursuing an MFA in Film Production at New York University.
